Today I’m really excited to reveal the cover for my new book, Keeping Sam! Without further ado, here it is in all its glory …
Well, what can I say? I love it. I have to say a big thank you to Pauline Wiles who pointed me away from the little boy in the snow after beta-reading Keeping Sam – Pauline, you know you were so right, and here is the result.
I’m super-excited about this book, not only because I think it’s the best thing I’ve written to date, but also because this cover is the first in a rebranding, redesign exercise that’s taking place at the moment. All my books (except for the gorgeous Flora Lively series) will be getting new covers, and the website will also get a new look. Those iconic legs on Can’t Live Without are out of the window, I’m afraid! It’s time to move on and go for a more cohesive, grown-up look that reflect the readers I’m trying to attract today – watch out for the new designs coming soon.
So, here is the blurb for Keeping Sam, and you can click on the links to PRE-ORDER now, should you wish to do so 🙂 The book will be released in Kindle format on November 23rd, and in paperback in time for Christmas. It’s my first ever time doing a pre-order, so I would love it if a few readers did buy this way and let me know how it all works out.
When Kate wakes up from a year-long coma, the first person she asks for is her son, Sam. Recovering from a head injury and getting back on her feet takes all of Kate’s energy, but toddler Sam has left a hole in her heart – a hole that isn’t healed by the knowledge that Sam is being cared for by Kate’s mother. Estranged from her parents since she was eighteen, Kate soon discovers they took Sam home to Cornwall months ago, convinced Kate would never wake up. By the time Kate is well enough to reclaim her son she is frantic with worry. Why hasn’t her mother brought Sam to see her? Why haven’t they replied to any of her letters? And why will no one talk to her about the circumstances around her injuries?

Thanks for the kind mention: the boy in the snow was wonderful but I think this little cutie will be an even bigger hit for you.
Drop me a line about a blog post maybe for 23 Nov, if you’d like?

Thanks Pauline! That will be awesome 🙂 I’ve been so lucky with beta readers for this book, and all the comments were so helpful. The story line is better for it, the characters stronger, the ending more impactful (I moved it to the beach, as you suggested – in fact I did pretty much everything you suggested!) I also got a full edit from the RNA for the manuscript, because I’d signed on for their New Writers’ Scheme earlier in the year, and that has helped shaped the book no end too.
Thanks again xxx

Congratulations Jo! What a wonderful book cover and I’m wondering about that pink hat… does it have a story behind? I read the blurb and wow! I had to pre-order my copy straight away. Can’t wait to read it. This is so different from your usual books and I’m really intrigued 🙂
Well done you for always surprising us and also for the courage to change genre. I have no doubt that this book too will be a success x

Joanne, hello! It’s been a while since we’ve connected, and it’s because we both prefer writing to all the other things we have to do. I’m closing in on finalizing my first draft, after many redrafts, edits, and revisions. Hoping to connect with a good editor here soon.
Congrats on the new look and the new book (which I’d love to review–Kindle copy is fine). My new book review blog is Puddletown Reviews (http://puddletown reviews). I’ve just given it a new look, as well as my writing blog. It seems the business is always changing as to what looks best, worst, and mediocre. 🙂
Good luck with the new book. It sounds intriguing and something everyone is going to like.
